Welcome and thank you for visiting my on-line gallery

I’m ashamed to say that it’s been nearly a year since my last update, but I’m still working and there are big plans for the future. If you haven’t visited for a while, or this is your first time, I’ve added 4 new paintings of London to the cityscape section, so make sure you take a look!

I relocated shortly after the launch of the website and my last gallery showing from Salt lake City, Utah to London, England. It’s held me up quite a lot in my regular output, but at the same time it’s opened my eyes to new possibilities and directions to take my work, which is what I hoped for in coming here. For one, the galleries and level of public interest and attention to the fine arts in every form is more widely accepted and supported, and in addition, the museums are incredibly inspirational and completely free, so I visit them constantly. This is all besides the fact that London itself is fascinating and beautiful especially for someone interested in painting city life and architecture.

I’ve done some study paintings of London since coming here, 4 of which have been added to the cityscape section of the site, nothing fully realized yet, but I’ve done loads of photography in preparation for a few major pieces I have in mind. Those will come after my current works in progress.

For the better part of the year, I’ve been slowly working through the first in a series of four privately commissioned pieces that will not be seen on my site, but maybe elsewhere depending on look the finished work…so far so good though. I’ve struggled to find decent work space and have moved 3 times since my arrival late last December, so I have had some setbacks. I’ve also poured most of my energy (creative and physical) into establishing a good job to support myself as I build up stamina as an artist here, and that has gone very well as I am working as a layout artist for a publishing company producing magazines. If you are interested, the website is http://www.countryclubuk.com.

As soon as I finish work on the commissioned paintings, I’ll start on a project that I’ve been anxious to work on for a year now, and have become more ambitious about after seeing some particular cotemporary work in the Tate, Tate Modern, National Gallery (and National Portrait Gallery), Royal Academy and others. I have now photographed 8 women for a series of candle-lit paintings, each nearly identical apart from the model. I have decided to do them 4 times the size I had originally envisioned because I want the viewer to be fixed and overcome by them. As soon as I complete the first couple, I’ll begin work on finding a suitable gallery to show them all together, and I’ve found some possible venues, but I am hoping for a major venue as they will be big and different. My initial plan was for 12 pieces to fill the show, but I need more models, so if you are female and under 30 and interested in posing (semi-nude) I would like to hear from you. Please contact me through the contact page of the site

I will continue to do cityscape inspired by London because it moves me, and I can’t help but find beauty in it, but that will be sporadic as there is so much else happening for now. I’m looking for a good gallery to show older work in as well, and until then am showing some of the cityscapes you see on this site at a jewellery studio in London.

Thank you again for visiting, or re-visiting, and please leave me a message and let me know who you are and what you think…and I’ll update as new (and hopefully good) things happen!

Welcome to the newly constructed site! There are a number of new things happening that should be represented visually here, or will be once I've completed the artwork. Most notably, I've got 12 (10 new and 2 later) oil paintings on display and for sale at Sargent Salon in downtown Salt Lake City. They'll be showing from October 1st - November 30th, and David Sargent will host an opening reception during gallery stroll on October 21st, 6-9 p.m. The Salon is located on 11 E. Exchange Place, in the courtyard between 300 and 400 S. on Main Street. Friends may find it easier to go to Room 32 (have a drink) and then stumble to the North across the courtyard to find it. Hope to see you all there!

I'm also working on a few new illustrations for the Vile Blue Shades. Those who came to my last show will be familiar with the work I've done for them in the past, but this group will be visually quite different. I'll also be working on two commissioned paintings throughout October/ November, as well as album design and layout for my own music venture. A new series of oil paintings is also in mind and ready to move and will most likely involve libraries, books (of course), and the occasional nude figure (you may be thinking that one of these things is not like the others, and not only are you right, but you've been watching your Sesame Street).

Please check back as I'll be adding the details of the website soon, such as titles, sizes, medium and prices, as well as new artwork as I complete it. Please e-mail me with comments or feedback, and I'll be sure to e-mail you notices of any major public affairs as they happen.

Cheers!
